Getting feedback from the community has always been one of our main priorities.

Key Features:

  • Identical design - 3 different paper stocks.
  • One of the best ways to find your favorite stock.
  • Limited edition of 500 sets.
  • Produced in collaboration with Room One for ACC 2025.

What cards do you like? Do you prefer them thin or thick? Do you like them soft or when they have more spring? That’s what we want to find out.

And that’s where the Butterfly Try-All Set comes in. This is a set of three decks of Butterfly Playing Cards with a completely identical design, but each deck is printed on a different stock.

Why do the decks look the same?

Design and how things look influence our opinion. We prefer things that look pretty to us. If there are a few objects to choose from, it’s natural to have the subjectively prettiest thing as your favorite. At some points and to some extent, even regardless of the quality.

In this project, we want to focus on the cards themselves, their feel, and handling. We want to take the preference out of the equation, and that’s why all three decks look the same.

Another reason we used the same design across the decks is that different inks and their amounts also influence the feel of the cards. The more the ink, the bigger the effect.

The decks have standard faces so you can use them for magic and cardistry, and take them everywhere with you.

Let’s talk about the stocks.

We produced the Butterfly Try-All Sets in collaboration with Room One for the Asia Card Convention 2025. They use three stocks for their playing cards, and we used those for this set. So, you can try these stocks:

  • 270gsm Sleight stock
  • 290gsm Afflux stock
  • 300gsm Elite stock

Each deck is marked with information on the back of its respective tuck box. We even included the thickness of each stock.

The votes are in...

And the winner is... the 300gsm Elite stock!

Try all three and let us know if it is your favorite too!

What is this good for?

As this was a "test project," we wanted to have an output and a result. In this case, a deck printed based on the feedback of our fans.

In January 2026, we released the Butterfly Try-All V2 Playing Cards, aka The People's Champ.

There are only 500 Butterfly Try-All Sets.

On the cards, you will notice that the S.300 decks have 1000 units. That’s because of the minimum print run for the 300gsm Elite stock.

If you like trying out new cards and different stocks, than this set might be for you.

Abigail S. ★★★★★

The fact that all three decks share the same design makes it so easy to compare the stocks side by side. I've been shuffling them all week and finally understand what people mean by card feel.

Henry Z. ★★★★★

Wasn't sure which paper stock would suit my handling best, so this try-all set was the perfect solution. Being able to compare the exact same design across all three decks side by side made the difference in feel immediately obvious.

Lily Z. ★★★★★

Finally got to feel all three stocks side by side, and the difference is way more obvious than I expected—the same back design makes the paper comparison so much easier. Been shuffling the thicker one the most, it's got a nice snap to it.
